Living
on Mission – Moving When God Moves
“Then he told the people to sit down on
the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven,
and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to
the disciples, who distributed it to the people. They all ate as much as they
wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers.
About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children!” (Matthew 14:19-21 NLT)
Don’t
you just love the miracles documented in the Bible? In this instance, Jesus miraculously fed more
than 5000 people and it wasn’t to show off or entertain the crowd, but because
they needed to be fed. He showed the abundant and lavish nature of God by
providing way more than was needed. They all ate as much as they wanted and
still had leftovers. What a good God!
Note
what the disciples were doing – or maybe what they were NOT doing. They were not
standing around with their mouths hanging open just being amazed. THEY
distributed the bread and THEY picked up leftovers. THEY touched/served/made
contact with a whole bunch of people. They got to participate in the
miraculous. They were active and on the move because God was on the move. They
were moving with Him.
Moving
with God is what disciples do. It’s what missionaries do. It’s what we do!!
Let’s
practice Living on Mission and move with Him. When we do this we get to see His
love in action and even participate in the miraculous things He does in the
lives of people around us.
