Catch up on this week's Scripture here: Ephesians 3:1-13
Fresh on the heals of discussing the importance of unity between the Jews and Gentiles, Paul continues on in Ephesians 3:1-13, discussing how now that these two groups have been united into one, the mystery of God has been revealed through Jesus.
Gentleness in the manner of Jesus requires gentle self-control. This requires a yielding on our part, or a surrendering. Part of the fruit of the Spirit, perhaps it would be better defined as Spirit-control!
"Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." Galatians 5:25
This week, as we prepare our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls for Sunday's message, how can we best pray in light of this passage?
We don't like to yield. We don't like to surrender. And our world is noisy. There are so many voices attempting to weigh in on our identity, attempting to both define and satisfy our cravings. Our world often makes bank on simultaneously convincing us we are in control and able to meet our own needs, while offering us something that our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls must have or do or be...
NOW. And then comes the "outta-control"!
Trusting God to lead, to provide, and to satisfy reveals Him to the world. Let us pray together, in unity, that we are filled with the Holy Spirit and both living and keeping in step with the Spirit's leading.
Let's let our gentleness bring Jesus to light!
Dear Jesus,
I want the world to know you through my gentleness. Please help me surrender all areas of my life to you and let you lead. Holy Spirit, help me keep in step with you as I go about my day.
Amen
