Living
on Mission When God is Disturbing
What
do you do when God does or allows things that disturb you? Do you run away from
Him? Do you shrug your shoulders and think, “ok, you’re God so I guess you can
do whatever you want”? Do you distance yourself? These seem to be our go-to
responses.
What
if we learn to lean in instead of run the other way? That’s what Habakkuk did. When he had
questions, he took them right to God and said, “hey, what about this stuff?”
And God answered.
Habakkuk
didn’t like what God said, but the point here is that he didn’t allow his being
disturbed to break down the relationship. He pressed in, even when he was not
happy with what he heard.
That’s
the way it has to be for any lasting relationship. Perseverance. Hanging on.
Trusting.
Let’s
practice Living on Mission and learn to press in and trust God. Even when we
don’t like the things He allows or circumstances He orchestrates. He is always
good. Even when we don’t understand.
