Living on
Mission – Whatever It Takes
“By this time
a lot of men and women of doubtful reputation were hanging around Jesus,
listening intently. The Pharisees and religion scholars were not pleased, not
at all pleased. They growled, “He takes in sinners and eats meals with them,
treating them like old friends.” (Luke 15:1-2 MSG)
Jesus was not
afraid to do things that the Pharisees didn’t like. He wasn’t trying to defy
their practices for the fun of it or to purposefully make enemies, though. No,
His Mission drove His behavior. He was here to seek and save the lost. The
judging gazes, the disapproving tone, the displeased growling – none of that
would stop Him. He would do whatever it took to find those who were lost.
What about
you? Do the lost ones matter to you? Would you to be willing to bear the
judgment or disapproval of others for the sake of a sinner?
Truth is,
only the boundless love of God empowers this “whatever it takes” behavior. In
fact, His love compels us just as it did Him. We must ask our Father to pour
this love into our hearts so much that it drives our behavior and overflows
onto the ones He loves – and He loves us ALL!
Let’s
practice Living on Mission and do whatever it takes to seek out and pour His love
on the lost ones.
