Living
on Mission with Jesus, the Hope of Our City
As
we approach Easter this week, we find our world in desperate need of hope. We
often get overwhelmed with bad news – devastating storms, terrorist attacks,
financial deficits, life-altering illnesses.
So, let’s take a step back and remember what we’re about to celebrate. Jesus
is now and has always been the only real source of hope for this world, our
city, and each person. Though it was God’s plan all along, at Easter we
celebrate the finished work of redemption through the crucifixion and
resurrection of our Lord Jesus.
So,
what does this mean in our everyday life? What exactly is the hope?
Jesus
took ALL of our sin, shame, and guilt, along with any and all barriers that
prevented us from being in a right relationship with God.
We
are rightfully His and He allows us
to choose to take part in relationship with Him.
Jesus
wins over evil. Period. We don’t have to live in fear.
Boundless,
unconditional love is ours eternally. We can know it and experience it even
though it is beyond our understanding.
God’s
power and presence through the Holy Spirit is ours for the asking. We are never
alone.
We
can know our purpose and find our significance as a vital member of His body.
Wahoo!
This is good news! These are some truths that provide hope to our neighbors.
Let’s embrace these for ourselves and then spread them to everyone we come in
contact with!
Let’s
practice Living on Mission and celebrate the Hope we have in Jesus and share it
freely with those around us.
