Living on Mission, Telling the Truth about the Kingdom
John 3:1-15
“Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God
unless they are born again.”
I think it is safe to say that Nicodemus was confused and maybe
even confounded by the words Jesus spoke to him. Born again? What? How can that
happen? What are you talking about, Jesus?
Jesus was well aware that the way His Kingdom works is very
different than the way things work around here. He knew it might blow people’s
minds to expose them to His ways. That didn’t stop Him. He kept on talking
about His Kingdom and demonstrating it through miraculous signs. Three times in
this passage alone He says, “Very truly I tell you…” It’s almost as if He was
saying, “I know this is hard to wrap your mind around, but here’s the truth.”
We face the same situation today. We’re used to the way this
world works. We, and the people around us, are not used to the way His Kingdom
works, but Jesus wants us to experience it! He wants us to join Him in
declaring and demonstrating it. Let’s pray that His Kingdom comes and His will
is done here on earth as it is in heaven. He rules! He reigns!
Let’s practice Living on Mission by boldly telling the truth
about the Kingdom of God.
