Living on
Mission – Fierce Pursuit
Matthew
22:36-40 sort of boils down to this: Love God. Love People. Like, REALLY love.
Fiercely love. All your heart and soul and mind and strength is a LOT of love.
Love God.
Love People. You really can’t do one without the other. If you love God, you
will love people because He made them and he loves them (ALL of them.) Likewise, if you love people, you will love
the God who created them and all of their wonderful unique personalities and
traits (and you can’t really love people without the power of His love anyway.)
How are you
doing with that kind of love for God and others? Would you call your love deep?
Would you call it fierce?
If you find
yourself lacking in fierce love toward God and/or others, go back and remember His
love for you. Remember how He pursued you. Remember that He love you first –
before you ever loved Him. Remember that His love is not contingent upon your
behavior. His love is unending and undeserved. He loves regardless of our
attitude. He loves relentlessly and unconditionally. He just loves. It’s who He
is. When we remember who He really is and how great His love is, we can’t help
but start to love. Our love is a response to His love. His love enables us to
love Him and others.
Let’s
practice Living on Mission and remember that we have been fiercely pursued by God
and He loves it when we join Him in pursuit of His beloved children.
