PRAY IT! FIERCE PURSUIT - SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES

Fierce Pursuit...Do you believe that Jesus fiercely pursued you, and that he continues to be in fierce pursuit of every one?  Do you believe that Jesus wants to use you in this fierce pursuit as well?

We need help to fulfill the Great Commandment found in Matthew 22:  36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

We need holiness.  Otherwise, Jesus' command, and some of the characteristics found in our scripture passage from 1 Peter this week (unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind) seem like too daunting an endeavor.

This Sunday is Vision Sunday at PoC.  We will kick off our new sermon series, Fierce Pursuit.  You do not want to miss this!

Check out this week's passage here:  1 Peter 3:8-22

As we venture in this "fierce pursuit" together, we will spend some time looking at some of the "spiritual disciplines" in the PRAY IT portion of our blog.  There is nothing magical or formulaic about the spiritual disciplines (examples range from worship to fasting, from prayer to solitude).  Rather, as Richard Foster states, "By themselves the Spiritual Disciplines can do nothing; they can only get us to the place where something can be done."

Consider committing to joining us each week in engaging in a different spiritual discipline, in addition to committing to attending the entire sermon series, as well as reading the Bible reading plan listed in the PoC|Now.

Take a moment to envision what God can do in and through you... through all of us... as we fiercely pursue God and the Christian walk.

PoC|Coverage is tonight at 6pm.  Come join us as we cover a wide range of prayer and care needs.  It's the easiest way to get connected and the easiest way to make a difference!
