PRAY IT! Mountain5

Matthew 5:13-16
13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Read:
1.)  Before reading, ask God to meet with you as you read His Word.  Ask for whatever help you might need (ie:  understanding, concentration, etc.)  Then, read the passage out loud, slowly.

Think:
1.)  Re-read the passage out loud, slowly.  Stop at the first word that really speaks to you.
2.)  What word did you stop at?  In light of this passage, why do you think this word caught your attention?  What do you think God wants you to notice?  Spend some time reflecting on this.

Pray:
1.)  Spend some time in prayer thanking God for his Word.  Engage in a conversation with God about the word that spoke to you in this passage.
2.)  What do you relate to most in this passage:  do you identify with salt or do you feel like you've lost your "flavor"?  Do you feel bright for the Lord, or do you feel like your light is hidden?  Share your feelings and any concerns you have with God and ask Him to help reveal and restore what is needed.

Live:
This passage is very clear when it begins with "You"... Jesus makes His calling to His disciples specific in this regard.  In what ways can you be a bit more "salty" today or let your light shine?  What thoughts, feelings, or behaviors need to be surrendered to God in order for this to happen?  What actions need to be added and/or increased into your daily routine in order for you to shine the light of Jesus today?

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for Your Word, which is living and active, and so very needed TODAY.  Please draw us closer to you as we seek to be what You have called us all to be:  salt and light in a world that desperately needs it.
Amen.

No Thursday night prayer meeting tonight.  We are on hiatus for the month of January.  Keep safe and warm, and enjoy your time with God.  See you on Sunday at 9:30am for pre-service prayer, and at 10am for worship.

Love you, PoC -
Pastor Celia
